Kind, Not Nice

Being kind to others—or to yourself—doesn’t always mean prioritizing someone's feelings. Beyond emotional support—something even a pet can provide—what sets us apart as humans is the ability to help in deeper, more meaningful ways.

I’ve always said: tell me when I’m wrong—don’t let me make a fool of myself. Don’t let me fail tomorrow just to spare me discomfort today.

There’s a classic example: the co-pilot who speaks up too late—“you missed the exit.” It’s the perfect case of self-sabotage for fear of upsetting or offending someone. By not raising the alarm at the right moment, everyone arrives late.

It’s not easy, but it’s an essential skill—professionally and personally. And it starts with yourself: if you want to be kind to your future self, be honest and act on what will help you tomorrow—not what flatters you today.
